Mistakes Made When Buying Jeans for Women

Jeans are a must-have in any woman's wardrobe. However, many women find shopping for jeans a stressful affair. Many of the women are forced to wear more than four different types of jeans before finding a pair that fits. Today, office culture is embracing a casual professional vibe. Therefore, it is commonplace to find women wearing jeans to the office. Nevertheless, wardrobe flexibility comes with a great responsibility. The dressing room is the only way to get you the right jeans. Some of the mistakes made by women include:
· Focusing on labels
Many women make the mistake of focusing on labels as opposed to fit. The label may provide important information pertaining to the style and size. It may also say whether the pair is a straight-leg or boot-cut style. However, the definition of boot-cut varies among different manufacturers. When you consider flares, some of the jeans for women flare out more when compared to others. There is no universal chart for sizes and as a result, it is common for a woman to wear a size 10 in a particular brand and 14 in another. When in doubt, it is advisable to try on more than two different sizes.

If you are pregnant, you should avoid wearing baggy pants and instead opt for designer jeans. The following are some of the factors to consider when choosing jeans, including:

This is an important factor when choosing a pair. It is advisable to choose a pair of jeans based on the size of your stomach. You may consider a pair that features an adjustable waist area. This will help you adjust the waistline depending on the size of your waist.

How to Choose the Best Jeans for Women

There are many different styles of jeans for women. As a result, many women find it difficult finding a style that suits them. Nevertheless, it is important for every woman to find the right style because the wrong design can be very unflattering. Jeans that are either too tight or too baggy never look good. It is important to choose a pair of jeans that looks good on you as opposed to your friend. Furthermore, you should not choose jeans simply because they are the latest trend. When you choose a pair on this basis, you will be disappointed with the results. Instead, you need to consider your body type when choosing a pair of jeans, including:
· Short body type
Companies are designing jeans that fit women with shorter legs and a low-waist. Wide-leg jeans are often recommended because they help to elongate the legs. If you find a pair of jeans that you like, but one that is a little longer you may consider hemming them. This will stop them from dragging on the floor. Jeans that have straight legs as opposed to those with a boot cut can be re-hemmed and shortened using the same stitching without having to change the shape of the jeans.

Classic Leather Jackets

As we grow older, our tastes and preferences change. And with time, the world changes as well. It is easy to feel lost and disconcerted amidst all of this. Considering that today we live in a fast-paced world where constant innovation is becoming the norm; this feeling of being uprooted and un-rested is becoming very common. Thus, we find ourselves holding on to certain mementos with all our might. These tokens can be anything; books, decor, furniture, clothing and etc. We hold on to them because they carry emotional value, become dear to us and are like anchors; holding us stationary in a tumultuous sea. The classic leather jacket is one such example.

Clothing Items Every Man Should Have in His Wardrobe: Men's Wardrobe Essentials

The days when men do not bother about what they wear are all behind us. The days when a man is contented with wearing one t-shirt over a denim pant day in and day out and mange to keep it clean by washing it at night before he goes to bed are gone. In our modern time men are very conscious of how they look and what they wear as their level of self confidence is reflected in their physical appearance. Unfortunately the modern society tends to pass quick judgment on people based on their physical appearance.
Your physical appearance which inevitably is tied to your self confidence is very crucial in a society that is faced with steep competition in every sphere of life. A society that requires you to prove yourself for what are you say or claim to be, in order to do this you literally have to tell people how to threat and respect you. Your cognitive skills and talents that are not readily visible are not enough for you to prove your worth to others, so you must back your intangible talents and skills with what is visible to other people, your physical appearance. You must exhibit enough confidence in yourself so as to give a hiring manger the reason to hire you and colleagues at your work place to respect you. You must portray yourself with unflinching confidence and dignity for anyone you meet on the street to recognize and treat you with respect. The unspoken way to exhibit this dignified confidence is through your physical appearance. What you wear and how you wear it, is what give you the confidence you communicate to people around.
To dress properly and appropriately at every event and situation you should have good and adequate men's clothing and accessories in your wardrobe. In this article I will help you to go through the list of some of men's clothing and accessories you need so as to dress properly and command respect from anyone your meet. These men's clothing items could be called wardrobe essentials or wardrobe stables that every man should have. Before going down the list of these men's clothing items and accessories, let me emphasize that quality and fitness are very necessary when choosing or buying any clothing item. Always aim at buying high quality clothes that fit your physique and choose colors that blend with or compliment your skin color.
Let us begin going down the list with most basic men's clothing item;
  1. Tee Shirts; T-shirts are the very basic men's clothing besides under wears that every man should have. Always buy fitting t-shirts that match and compliment your physique. In making your choices, diversify the neckline of the t-shirts. Buy both crew neck and v-neck t-shirts. Have as many different colors and patterns of men's tee shirts as possible; be sure to include white and dark colors (Navy and black) in the t-shirts you buy. Let other colors and patterns of t-shirts you choose match your skin color and your facial structure or shape.

  1. Jeans - When buying jeans, always choose style that compliments the shape of your legs, preferably chose slimmer styles over baggy ones and darker colors over lighter ones as jeans often fade with time as you wash them.

  1. Chinos (Pants or Trousers): Choose the style(s) of your chinos as the ones you chose for your jeans, prefer pants made from cotton material to those made from wool material. Diversify the colors of your pants as much as you can but always have chinos (pants) in darker colors (black & navy), these colors are very good for winter season. Lighter colors (grey, cream and beige) should be your preferred colors in the summer season

  1. Shorts: - In purchasing shorts apply the suggestions given for style and colors for buying your pants.

  1. Casual shirts: - Have as many casual shirts as you can afford. Go for button down casual shirts that you can wear with or without ties and blazers, which you can also wear over any shorts, jeans or pants. If possible buy both solid colored and patterned casual shirts. Diversify the colors of the casual shirts you have, always be sure to have casual shirts in lighter colors such as white and mild blue. In choosing patterned casual shirts, buy patterns that compliment your physique and facial shape. For the style of your casual shirts, go for slimmer fits that are not too tight.

  1. Dress shirts: - Dress shirts are the most important clothing items in any man's wardrobe. These are what you wear for formal occasions and often to your work place, so it is important that you pay close attention when buying dress shirts. Use your neck size to buy your dress shirts and buy only shirts sizes that correspond with your neck size (that means you must know your neck size). Buy dress shirts with any cuff of your choice. Be sure to use cufflinks on double cuffed shirts. When buying dress shirts lean more towards very light colors such as white, mild blue, light purple or light pink, avoid dark colors when buying dress shirts. The reason why light colors are preferable for dress shirts is because light colored shirts can go with any color of suits or tie. If you choose to buy patterned dress shirts, buy patterned shirts that compliment your physique. If you are tall or slim you can always go for striped dress shirts.

  1. Suits: - Every man needs couple of suits if not for work, for formal events such as wedding parties, dinner parties or any other formal event as the situation arises. Have suits in navy and grey colors respectively. In choosing the colors of your suits prefer darker colors to lighter ones. Always choose suits that fit your physique, aim at slimmer suits. Use your chest size to pick the size of your suits. Buy suits with wider lapels as opposed to those with skinny type, as to match the width of your tie. When choosing the size of your coat, remember to chose coat size that will give room to the suit you will wear beneath it. Prefer darker colors such as black/charcoal, gray, navy or beige. You may also need to have a trench coat that should be the same color as your coat. You need the trench coat for rainy days. Prefer cotton trench coats to trench coats made from any other material. Besides winter coats and trench you can add sports coat and car coats to your collection of men's outer wear.

  1. Formal Shoes: - It is necessary for you to have couple of pairs of good shoes, always go for high quality good leather shoes, preferably choose Oxford or Brogues shoes. Have at least a pair of black and brown shoes each. These two colors will match any color of suits, jeans and pants.

If you are a fun loving person, you may add trapper hats to you winter accessories.
These are some of the basic wardrobe essentials every man needs to have to be able to dress properly and appropriately at every event and situation. It can never be over emphasized that in choosing your clothing you should always go for high quality clothing and accessories. Apart the fact that good quality clothes enhance your physical appearance and self confidence, they save you a lot of money over time, as high quality clothing are more durable compared to low quality clothing.

The Urban Wear Flair

A wholesale distributor of urban clothing is absolutely necessary in order to stay on top within the retail market. With urban trends occupying nearly every closet in America, it is necessary that retailers offer the best of the best in order to stay current and profitable.
The hip hop community has largely influenced the trends that we see today and even high fashion designers have included the hip hop lifestyle into their collections. What is the signature look of hip hop fashions? In the early 2000, hip hop trends seemed to be constantly evolving. The use of extra baggy clothes continued to be the norm as well as the use of "bling". Hip Hop artists' heavy influence made top designer brands very popular during these years. Trends from the 80's and 90's once again emerged, making bright colors and other trends such as graphic print hoodies popular again.

Finding a Good Leather Jacket

Every year, the winds need only start getting chillier and people become restless with anticipation. Our favourite season is here! Cold, biting winds are blowing, the trees are bare and the grounds covered with crisp, golden and red leaves, and of course, the warm clothing! How can we forget the best part of this season? Sure, nature lovers will live winter because it is the advent of beautiful colors- plants start carrying the shade of sun and fire rather than of life. The skies are not merely blue; there is a tinge of grey to them. A whole different side of the world awakens and shows itself. But for me, good leather jackets are what this time of the year is about.
There is just something amazing about snuggling up in your blanket, in your bed, on a chilly morning. Clothes provide that feeling all day long. A good leather jacket will accomplish exactly that. There is something about it that takes us back to the time when we were kids and our mother's hug was a safe haven, and our beds were our palaces. For me, this period brings back those feelings. Of course, not exactly that feeling but a shadow or a pretty good imitation is aroused. And today, when we live in this constant hustle of money-making, good leather jackets are blessings.

Do You Really Need Polarized Sunglasses?

It is pretty much considered common knowledge that we need to wear sunglasses outdoors in order to protect our eyes from the harmful effects of sunlight - not jut at the height of summer, but in the winter months as well. However, one thing that we are not yet so knowledgeable about is the use of polarized lenses in our sunglasses. It is one of those things that we keep hearing about, but do not really know exactly why! Let's take a look at polarized sunglasses and why they may be better than regular lenses.
What Are Polarized Lenses?
To begin with, it is useful to understand what polarized lenses actually are. Without turning this into a boring physics lesson, let's first look at how sunlight behaves. The rays of light are either absorbed by the surface they strike, or are reflected in many different directions. When these rays are reflected off of water, or even the shiny hood of your car, they can often create a glare which is not only uncomfortable, but can also be potentially dangerous. Polarized lenses are specially designed to avoid this situation. They contain a filter which only allows vertically oriented light to pass through them, blocking horizontal rays which cause the glare.

Some Tips for Buying Clothes

Most of us love going out and buying ourselves clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, or anything that takes our fancy. It is a pleasurable activity, no doubt, but an expensive one. Sometimes we look for reasons to indulge ourselves in a bit of retail therapy. And very often we come away with things we really do not need, or even worse, that look awful the next day. Then you wonder what made you even think it looked good! Maybe a friend encouraged you to buy it? Maybe you got it at a bargain price. Whatever the reason, it is time to get sensible about what you end up buying and why.
Before you step out the next time to drop by a mall, think on these things:
• Take a little tour of your wardrobe; reacquaint yourself with what you have.
• Now, make a list of what you need. If you are on a budget, keep the list to essentials.

An Introduction to Bandage Dresses

In the world of fashion, we often come across dresses and attires which may seem weird at first, but eventually become acceptable to the people. Clothing companies, fashion houses and designer dress manufacturers often come out with attires that look completely different than those attires which are available in the market. In order to popularize these attires, they hire celebrities to wear these attires, for the purpose of promoting them. Given the fact that celebrities are worshiped by the people, the attires they promote eventually become a hit with the masses. An example of such attires would be bandage dresses.
What are they?
As the name suggests, bandage dresses are those dresses which are wrapped around the body like bandage dressings. They are made from a large number of stretchable strips, because of which they women of all body types can easily fit into them. However, they remained attached to the body in a figure-hugging manner. Hence, they can highlight even the slightest of 'flaws' in a woman's figure. They are mainly worn by women who are thin, and are comfortable with the way they look. These dresses were first introduced by a brand called Herve Leger.

Pelham and Strutt - How to Keep Trim This Christmas Period

Every single year, as we come hurtling towards the big day, we're forever promising ourselves that "this year it'll be different" and this year we won't end up eating those extra three mince pies, or that fourth glass of rosé. However, each and every year, we find ourselves back on the sofa on Boxing Day, surrounded by a fortress of half-eaten arctic roll and an empty bottle of sherry.
Christmas is a time for excess and, we've just got to admit it - prevention is never going to be the cure with this one. Instead, you can ensure that you still look tip top in that devilishly tight cocktail dress, with the help of shapewear.
Shapewear is the best friend to any body-conscious person - so essentially, to anyone and everyone over the age of twenty, during the Christmas period. It sucks you in comfortably, in all of the right places, and creates a flattering silhouette, regardless of your shape.

Choose the Ideal Dress Based on Body Type

The concept of 'the perfect dress' does not exist. All women have different facial features and body types because of which the beautiful dress, which looks good on your best friend, will not necessarily look good on you. However, with a clear idea about how our body looks, you can choose the best option possible and make sure that you look good in the process. Once you have a clear idea of your body type, you will be narrow down your options and choose something that will add to your overall beauty, and will make you look stylish and desirable.
The common body types and the dresses that are fit for these body types are as follows:
1) Rectangular - this body type includes women who are very lean and so not have a lot of curves. Also, their waist is not very big in size because of which they are considered to possess a rectangular body. Such women can opt for slim fit dresses which can provide a definition to their figure, and make them look very sexy in the process. They can also opt for body hugging attires such as bodycon dresses, bandage dresses etc.

Black and white is the classic pairing and very easy to find. If you are just venturing into this trend, try this first. Pair a black and white patterned top with solid colored bottoms. Any pattern will do! Try florals, stripes, polka dots, checks or skulls for an edge. As long as the pants or skirt are in a bright shade, you will be fine. No soft pinks or beige. This trend calls for boldness. To finish the look, your shoes can either be black, white or the same hue as the bottoms you chose. For a subtler outfit, wear denim and neutral flats or heels. Add the third pop of color with a bright handbag or clutch. Another idea is to wear a black and white striped skirt, emerald green heels and a white top. Accessorize with emerald earrings or a green purse. High-contrast is attention getting, so a statement necklace is absolutely appropriate.

Who Can Opt for Bodycon Dresses?

Bodycon dresses are those which leave very little to the imagination. They highlight a woman's figure as they easily get molded to her body. They are usually very tight and short, and also show an ample amount of bosom. They became popular in the early nineties and were in fashion for a few years. Thanks to certain celebrities who started wearing them again, bodycon dresses are now in vogue and they are highly in demand. These days, they are worn by a lot of women around the globe. They are very popular because they are believed to make women look 'hot' and 'sexy'.
Despite the fact that they are very popular, bodycon dresses may not be ideal for all women. They are made from elastic material such as Lycra or Spandex. They make the body feel very warm as they do not allow it to breathe properly. Hence, they are not ideal for those who easily feel suffocated in tight dresses and for those women who have a higher than average body temperature. Besides, they cannot always be worn living in countries with warm, hot or humid climate. These dresses are ideal for those who do not feel very warm, and live in places with moderate climate.

Fashion and Culture

What is the use of fashion? Fashion is the style of human behaviour, popular during usually short period of time. If during a certain period, people begin to put on bell-bottom trousers, wear spectacles with large, disc like glasses,or keep their hats tilted, they are doing so because it is the current craze.
Fashions originate in man's age-old wish to look distinct and attractive. Naturally, they are more popular with women. It is said that the chameleon does not change its colour as quickly as a woman wears out a new fashion, but men too, can't plead innocence.

Fashion In Clothes - An Expression Of Emotion

Fashion in clothes has allowed wearers to express emotion or solidarity with other people for millennia. Modern Westerners have a wide choice available in the selection of their clothes. When people who have cultural status start to wear new or different clothes a fashion trend may start. People who like or respect them may start to wear clothes of a similar style.
Design
Designs are difficult to protect in court, because they incorporate elements that are effectively in the "public domain. Designers in turn respond to this obsolescence with new designs. Although tailors and dressmakers were no doubt responsible for many innovations before, and the textile industry certainly led many trends, the History of fashion design is normally taken to date from 1858, when the English-born Charles Frederick Worth opened the first true haute couture house in Paris. Since then the professional designer has become a progressively more dominant figure, despite the origins of many fashions in street fashion.

High-street labels roll out made-to-measure outfits

It was only a matter of time before they hit the middle ground. But the Italians were uncompromising to begin with - in such things Rome draws the line, they said - and fervently hoped Indians would lose the stomach for anything bigger. We held on, now the Italians are back, with a tape and a tailor in tow.

In a nutshell, ladies and gentlemen, that's how the Armanis, Guccis and the Zegnas of Italian high-street fashion lost their war with the stubborn Indian potbelly as they set out to clothe one of the biggest emerging markets for Rs 1 lakh-plus suits and trousers. As the realisation sunk in that India's wealthiest men - from Altamount Road's pedigreed industrialists to Gurgaon's nouveau riche builders - are so unshapely for their dapper ready-made suits, the Romans have decided to stretch that famous Italian stitch a bit more.

Looking fashionable can also be affordable

You don't have to be rich to look good or fashionable. Globalization has impacted street fashion as well and there are more ways than one to get on the fashion bandwagon.

Everybody knows that peplum is here to stay. Blair Waldorf wouldn't have been caught dead in something that didn't set a trend immediately. But little did the main character of Gossip Girl know that her wardrobe would influence Sonam Kapoor's wardrobe in Aisha in 2010. In New Delhi, the red peplum dress Kapoor wore in the film caught Tinky Ningombam's fancy - the 27-year-old public relations manager marched to her local tailor and had the outfit stitched. Frugal finances don't always need to come in the way of fashion.

Young & Trendy… Kids Fashion is Here to Stay

The world of fashion is taking a new generation by storm. And this generation is young, small and tender. Kids fashion is becoming big, getting all the attention from designers, companies and well yes the parents. And expectedly the trend first started in Hollywood.

Every six-year girl would like to be like Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Travelling in private jet to meet her famous father, she personifies luxury, glamour, and girly style. Her extra trendy, branded dresses are as famous as the accessories she carries around. It's rightly quoted by her father Actor Tom Cruise that "Suri dresses herself and she was born that way," This is so true.
Zahara Jolie-Pitt is another on the list. She is as much a style icon as her celebrity parents Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt with her Ralph Lauren Boots and Gucci, Juicy couture tops. Carefree look of Violet Affleck, daughter of celebrity parents- Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, is a craze in so called kids fashion world for her UGG Australia boots to Ray Ban glasses to Bonpoint dress. Ditto, for the celebrity stylist Rachel Zoes son Skyler who is an epitome of fashion, with his signature style hats.

Lungi Craze

We all are familiar with the Indian Lungi, I am sure each and every household has this one piece of garment. The drape of this garment is such that it gives the wearer a lot of ease of movement and comfort. It is very open drape and is therefore preferable in hotter regions and that is why it is more worn in hotter regions like south India, Sri Lanka, Burma and even the eastern oriental countries. The Lungi is also known as a sarong. It is a traditional garment and popular in regions where the heat and humidity create an unpleasant climate for trousers. Lungi is generally woven from cotton and is available in many designs, patterns and colors.

Depending on local tradition, lungi can be worn by men and/or women. They are tied or fastened in various ways, and can be used in different cultural activities, ranging from normal daily life to elaborate wedding ceremonies. There are various forms in which a Lungi can be draped, but the simplest form is where the lungi is just draped around the waist and the two ends are tied in a simple knot, however the pretzel knot is considered to be more secure. As the lungi is a draped garment the length of the hemline can be altered by adjusting the tucking at the waistline.

Available in varied prints and self woven designs the Lungi has become so much in vogue that it is considered unisex garment. The most commonly worn are those with checks or the ones in a single dark hue.

Why Fashion Is Always Changing

Everyone is affected by fashion to some extent. In the era of early supermodel age, fashion could be categorized by glamour or commons. Today, fashion is fast, trendless, comfortable, and personal. Street fashion, as one of the most popular form, is more of a reflection of personality and lifestyle than of trends in general. Because social media have offered abundant avenues for people to get to know trends happening now, fashion has becoming really shapeless. Hollywood stars have their Facebook and Twitter accounts updating almost every second of their day including what they are wearing. Thus, Stars set fashion trends. However, Stars are not the only people only can openly express their fashion styles. Bloggers of fashion, not just professionals, but ordinary peoples, can send out their fashion style to the world. In an instant, fashion has truly become everyday, everywhere, and everyone.
In the information age and a much globalized world community, fashion has transformed in its outlook, and concept as it starts embodying many varieties of elements of different cultures. For example, in the 1980s, jeans had monopolized youth culture not only in the U.S. but also other countries, particularly East Asian countries like Japan and Korea. Now, American styles are no longer the standard as designers of different ethnic background incorporate their own outlook into their design. In addition, in this much globalized world, ethnicity is no longer the only factor that affect the trend in fashion as it was decades ago. Now, people are guided by taste, lifestyle, and experiences. For instance, Alexander Wang's simple power women's look has won many fans of minimalism. Thus, it is possible the fashion's trajectory will more closely appeal to people's lifestyle and social trends.

All About Fashion and Fashion Week

Fashion is the general style or custom of clothing worn at any given time. The word "fashion" comes from the years when people described a woman who was well dressed as a "fashion plate".
Whether or not it had a name, fashion has always been important to women. Now it seems to be almost as important to men. Beau Brummell is probably the most well known and talked about male fashion plate in history. His colorful clothing and accessories were copied by men all over Europe.
Couturiers with famous names such as Worth, Dior, Balenciaga, Chanel had famous fashion houses in Paris. These were the haute couture designers that every other fashion designer since has aspired to become. In spite of Prêt a Porter (French for ready made or off the rack) the world still looks to Paris first when fashion is concerned. Today, although fashion designers and models come from all over the world, fashion week in Paris is still the most exciting event of the year.

What is Eco Fashion?

Today I sat contemplating the meaning of the term 'eco fashion'. I thought to myself, "If anyone should really understand the meaning of the above it should be me, as I have dedicated the best part of three years toward the creation of an eco fashion brand." The problem is there is no point in me understanding the meaning if others can't conceptualise the term, and how it may fit into their lifestyle. So here we are, and I am going to attempt to detail the meaning of 'eco fashion'.
'Eco fashion' could quite literally be seen as two entirely different entities. Firstly the idea of ecological and environmentally sustainable ideas being somewhat of a trend, fad, or as it states fashion, something that may be washed away or brushed under the carpet in years to come. Secondly it can be viewed as fashion, as in clothing, accessories, perfumes, aftershaves and footwear, which is made with the environment in mind.

The City Will Witness a Fashion Week With a Purpose, It's Different This Year

"This is a fashion week with a cause" as declared by Mr. Yudhajit Dutta, organizer of the fashion extravaganza called Kolkata fashion and lifestyle week (KFLW). This year the event will have a different story to tell. The most happening fashion and lifestyle week this year has come up with a unique theme and a purpose. Truly the Kolkata fashion and lifestyle week has been responsible both as a platform for Indian fashion trends to project Kolkata as the next fashion capital of India and as an organization for spreading eco-consciousness amongst people.
Eco fashion theme of Kolkata fashion and lifestyle week
The year 2010 has been recognized as the UN year of biodiversity. The world is facing an urgent urge to save biodiversity and to preserve our ecology from destruction. Kolkata fashion and lifestyle week thus, has decided to redefine fashion with stylized clothing in natural fibers like jute, cotton, silk and bamboo. With natural fabrics and dyes to set the ramp on fire with its beauty and originality, it is speculated that this fashion and lifestyle week will successfully set eco-fashion trends for the future India. The Kolkata fashion week salutes the weavers and weaves of Bengal and celebrates the traditional fabrics worn here. Participating designers at Kolkata fashion and lifestyle week are expected to create marvels out of natural fabrics, fibers and dyes.

Bubble-Up Effects of Subculture Fashion

The notion that trends in fashion take part in a phenomenon known as the trickle down effect has long been recognised by fashion pundits. A process of social emulation of society's upper echelons by the subordinates provides myriad incentives for perpetual and incessant changes in fashion through a sequence of novelty and imitation. Dior's 'New Look' of 1947 consisted of creations that were only affordable to a minority of affluent women of the time. Fashion was governed by haute-couture designers and presented to the masses to aspire toward. However, this traditional prospective has been vigorously challenged by many throughout the fashion world. Revisionist observations have introduced a paradoxical argument that fashion trends have, on numerous occasions, inadvertently emerged from the more obscure spheres of society onto the glamorous catwalks of high-fashion designers.
These styles can originate from a range of unorthodox sources, from leather-jacketed punks and dramatic Goths, the teddy boys of the 1950s, to ethnic minority cultures from all edges of the globe. Styles that emerge from the bottom of the social hierarchy are increasingly bubbling up to become the status of high fashion. There has been significant concern over the implications of this so-called bubble-up effect, such as the ambiguity between the notions of flattering imitation and outright exploitation of subcultures and minority groups. Democratization and globalisation of fashion has contributed to the abrasion of the authenticity and original identity of street-style culture. The inadvertent massification of maverick ideas undermines the 'street value' of the fashions for the very people who originally created them.

How to Become a Successful Fashion Designer

If you are like me you live and breathe fashion. You are constantly inspired with so many new designs racing through your mind, so many you can't seem to get them all down quick enough at the pace they arrive. You constantly dream of the day your fashions will be on the fashion runway with the lights beaming brightly overhead, the cameras flashing everywhere and the audience being completely mesmerized by your incredible designs. You can't stop thinking of the day you will open a magazine or watch the Oscars and see a famous celebrity in one of your breathtaking designs. Your book shelf is stocked with fashion books and magazines, and you absolutely can't resist visiting textile stores to view all the latest fabrics, decorative beads, rhinestones and trims.
It's this ever present dream of being a successful fashion designer that has you work day and night on your designs in most cases for many years without pay and working a job to pay the pills which is brutal torture, when all you can think about is living and working in fashion.
