How To Style Cardigans Differently

Cardigans are similar to pullover sweaters as they are knitted or crocheted, however what makes them different is that they have an open front and don't have to be "pulled over" the head. They are an essential wardrobe items and can be styled in infinite ways. These types of sweaters are very popular cool weather and their versatility allows them to be worn in casual or formal occasions. Here are a few style ideas for cardigans.
Solid colored sweaters are the easiest to style as they can be paired with any other color or pattern. Try a muted grey worn over a multi-colored printed tank top and white shorts for a summery look. Accessorize with espadrilles and a casual leather clutch purse to finish it off! If you want a brighter palette, try a teal or mustard knit over a fitted black top, short denim skirt and funky wedges. Carry a tote and some funky crystal earrings for some extra bling. Or try a bright red cardy over a black and white striped dress and yellow heels for an unexpected extra pop of color!

Mixing prints and textures may be intimidating but the great thing about cardigans is if you feel intimidated or insecure about it, you can always take it off. Try pairing a teal lace dress with a fitted bodice under a loose black and white tribal shrug. A southwestern print short sleeved knit worn over a navy blue top with a small floral print looks great with jeans and boots. Add a textured and spiked envelope clutch to complete this eccentric yet stylish outfit.
For more formal events, try tucking a fitted navy blue cardy into a knee length plum skirt tied with a maroon belt. Finish with a collar necklace, heels and a sparkling clutch purse. A floral dress and black flats under a soft shrug also works well for less casual events. You could also try a soft neutral over a white top and white pants for a cool spring outfit. Finish with a soft leather handbag or clutch in maroon red for an exciting twist.
These knits are very useful in layering when the weather gets chilly. A cardy can be layered under a winter coat for some extra warmth. Top with a tube scarf and hat if it is particularly cold outside. Looking good is one thing, but you should never compromise your health.
